Vanessa Redgrave and James Earl Jones, who had a hit run on Broadway this season in Driving Miss Daisy, will perform the play on the London stage, autumn 2011. The two stars will rehearse in London and begin performances at Wyndham's Theatre on September 26th for a limited run through to December 17th 2011 — although Mr Jones, 80, hinted those dates might be flexible.

'My wife wouldn't mind it extending for a bit because she would like staying in London over Christmas,' he told me.

Driving Miss Daisy continued beyond its initial three-month engagement on Broadway and recouped its investment in just a few weeks.

Driving Miss Daisy tells the story of an unlikely friendship between a chauffeur and his elderly passenger. Initially, Daisy refuses to let her driver Hoke take her anywhere, however they eventually settle their differences and end up relying on each other.

Currently, Wyndham's is home to Much Ado About Nothing, starring Catherine Tate and David Tennant.
